If I had to create a title for my memoirs it would definitely be "Grits, Cornbread and Buttermilk for Breakfast: the tale of a young, midwestern boy transplanted in the South."
Originally born and raised in a small, farm town in Northern Indiana, I was saved from a life of corn picking and factory work when my parents planned an impromptu move to Florida. The results were nothing less than extraordinary. I attended a high school for the arts in Jacksonville, graduated and went to a moderately good school, obtained a decent college education that I deeply appreciate, and now I work as a teacher. It’s been a blessed life, thus far.
I consider myself a person of wit and charm, although I can be a little shy at times. Most of my friends would describe me as an individual. I have never been the sort of person to blend into the background. I guess you could say that I live in a world of vanilla, but I’m rainbow sherbet.
From an early age I felt like my life was destined for uniqueness. I was surrounded by homogeneity and felt deeply the sharp scorpion of the tongue. As an adult, I try to surround myself with open-minded people of diverse opinion. I like a good intellectual dual on occasion; it’s much more attractive when people disagree with me passionately. Don't you agree? (wink)
I am an avid reader, a writer of extremely minor, laughable talent, and a person in love with the philosophical. My goal had been to move to a larger city, but as my friend Jimmy says "your life is waiting for you wherever you are lucky enough to be living it." I agree!
This should be enough for now. How can a dynamic person fit himself on a single sheet of paper?
